You might feel that exercise is a bit of a chore but it is something that we all need to do to keep fit and healthy. A little bit of movement on a regular basis can make a huge difference in the long term.
Here are three ways that you can add some exercise element into your day.
#1 – Walk The Stairs
If you live or work in a multi-story building, take the stairs more often. This simple little change can make a real difference. The first few times you might notice that you are out of breath by the time you reach your destination. Your legs will ache a little because they are not used to this type of exercise.
If you keep it up and only use the stairs, you will surprise yourself by how quickly you get used to the exertion. You will soon notice that it doesn’t take as long to get your breath back or to breathe properly.
If you want to take it in stages, try getting off of the elevator a couple of floors before your destination and use the stairs. Then you can add an extra floor until you are happy with your progress.
# 2 – Get Up From Your Desk At Lunchtime
Too many of us stay at our desk during lunch hour. We think of it as a chance to catch up on personal emails and social media. Consider getting out of the office and using that hour for exercise.
It could be something as simple as going for a brisk walk around the block. Alternatively, you could look to see if there is an exercise, dance class or a gym session that you can take during that break.
This is the perfect time to fit exercise into your day. Once you get home, you do not have to think about it as a task that you still have to do. Use the lunch hour productively and get fit at your convenience.
#3 – Park Further Away From The Mall Entrance
It is so tempting to find the closest parking spot to the entrance of the mall. But if you park further away, you will force yourself to walk a few extra steps. If you have a mostly sedentary lifestyle, every single step really does count.
Health and fitness studies suggest that we should all we walking at least 10,000 steps per day. Invest in a pedometer and keep a log of the number of steps you take throughout the day. Parking a bit farther away from the mall entrance could make all the difference.
These exercise hacks are things that everyone can do. Try one and see if you notice a difference in your health and your body shape.
